In February 2020, after having launched its activities in Senegal, Biogaran took action to comply with its commitment in favor of access to quality healthcare for all by participating in two days of free screening and medical consultations. At the end of the two days, the diseases of nearly 500 patients were detected and taken care of.
Promote access to healthcare for all
Ngohé is a village of 14 000 people located in the South-East of Dakar. Ngohé is composed of several other localities which are all about 5km away from one another. As many villages in Senegal, Noghé suffers from the lack of infrastructures, of educational, cultural and collective facilities, of qualified staff and of quality healthcare, among others.
In this context, Biogaran decided to work with the local organization A.I.D.E Ngohé, founded by Pr. Damien Sène, Head of Internal Medicine at Lariboisière Hospital in Paris, to help the people of Ngohé regarding their healthcare needs.
In this end, Biogaran provided the organization with 800 free boxes of drugs as well as with medical equipment to help healthcare professionals do their consultations. At the end of the two days, the diseases of nearly 500 patients were detected and taken care of.
“I am very proud to be with you today, to take part in this screening and medical consultations project and to provide patients with quality medicines. It is very important for us to be able to help the people of the countries in which we work. A few years ago, we decided to market our medicines in Senegal and more generally in Africa, and I am very glad to see that it will be helpful. I would like to thank Pr. Damien Sène for allowing us to be part of these screening and medical consultations days” said Mr. Emmanuel Le Doeuff, Head of International Operations of the Generics Division of Servier Group
“You decided to come to Senegal, you decided to help a locality in Senegal which is Ngohé. This is the reality of rural communities in this country. You could have gone in any other village; you would have found the exact same situation. This shows how important it is to support patients in their healthcare needs and how vital the needs are. I can’t thank you, anyway I can’t thank you enough. In the name of the people of Ngohé, we would like to say thank you.” answered Pr. Damien Sène, Head of Internal Medicine at Lariboisière Hospital in Paris and founder of the organization A.I.D.E Ngohé.
Other events of this type are scheduled to take place in the upcoming months.
